Why the price is split

There is one step in this we cannot do for you: somebody independent has to physically look at your VIN. In roughly half the country that means asking a police officer, and some departments will not do it. If we took $299 up front and nobody would sign, you would be the one out of pocket for a step we set you.So the larger payment waits until there is a title.

Why isn’t the inspection included? Because you’d pay more if it were. Booking an inspector on your behalf means a scheduling service and a markup on top, and in the states where only law enforcement can do it there is nobody for us to book. Instead we tell you exactly who is allowed to do it where you live, and what it should cost.

If it goes wrong

If no title comes, no $279 is due

That is the whole point of splitting the price. If Montana rejects the filing and we can’t fix it, or if the inspection turns out to be impossible where you live, the $279 is simply never charged. You are never in the position of chasing us for a refund of the large number, because we never took it.

The $20 covers work we have already done for you, so it is not normally refundable. If we sent you somewhere wrong, or told you something that turned out not to hold, ask and we will return it.
